Castello Nipozzano

Chianti Rufina, Italy

Castello Nipozzano’s renown was documented during the Renaissance, when famed artists like Donatello and Michelozzo Michelozzi made regular purchases from the estate. In 1855, the Frescobaldi family began cultivating new varieties then-foreign to Tuscan soils at the estate – Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Cabernet Franc and Petit Verdot. These vines would go on to grow the flagship Mormoreto, while their other wines continue to deepen this estate’s Tuscan tradition. This 11th-century castle in Chianti Rufina also holds each family member’s private collection.

Nipozzano Riserva

Chianti Rufina

An emblem of the Nipozzano estate, this wine encapsulates the Tuscan winemaking tradition. It captures the spirit of Chianti Rùfina and its high elevations, based on Sangiovese with other complementary varieties.

Montesodi

Chianti Rufina

Montesodi was Nipozzano’s first single-vineyard wine when it was created in 1974, grown from a vineyard with particularly stony soils of the same name. Designated as a Terraelectae or single-vineyard Chianti Rùfina, this wine is extremely lively and elegant, a Sangiovese that reflects a sense of its place.
