Vineyard
The soils are very shallow and rocky on the slopes, and deeper and sandy on the plain. Yields are voluntarily kept very low in order to preserve the vines and ensure the production of high quality grapes. This Chardonnay comes form the coolest plots of Aussières and selected neighbouring terroirs, in order to obtain a wine with distinctive freshness.
Vintage
The spring of 2023 saw a hot April and very low rainfall. At the beginning of August, the vineyard was at mid-veraison. The harvest went on smoothly.
Tasting Note
The nose is summery, expressive and complex. On the palate, the acid is lively revealing notes of yellow-fleshed fruit and exotic fruit. The finish is fresh with aromas of aniseed, enhanced by subtle hints of vanilla.

Altan is named after the cooling sea breeze at Domaine d’Aussières. Its peppery notes enhance the aromas of thyme, sage, juniper and rosemary, accenting a rich core of cherry and praline.

Aussière’s cool microclimate matures the Grenache and Syrah for this wine slowly, developing a wide palette of flavors. The top 50% of certain plots of stony and sandy soils go into this rich rosé with notes of blood orange and raspberry, decadent now but with the structure to age for five years or longer.
