Undeterred by social distancing, wine lovers around the world embrace virtual happy hours with friends and family

The Washington Post wine columnist Dave McIntyre published a story celebrating the ways that wine lovers around the world are still sharing their love of wine with one another during the COVID-19 pandemic – albeit virtually. He provides context as to the various ways that people are coming together while enjoying wine, via social media platforms, Zoom, Google Hangouts, Skype etc. Additionally, he offers a few examples of how wineries are pivoting to create unique virtual experiences for their customers, like Gary Farrell Winery in Sonoma.

McIntyre explains that the winery “offered its club members a virtual tour of the Russian River Valley, through a tasting of pinot noir made by winemaker Theresa Heredia from vineyards throughout the appellation.” Club members are able to reserve 3 different experiences led by the winery’s sommeliers via reservations platform Tock.
